While the targeted segments are too broad, DM is only possible to apply on niche market.
As the success rate of DM is about 20%, applying it on a broad segment will waste too much resources.
Moveover, Heinz is hard to get a well developed customer database on their targeted segments.
Also, developing a customer database may require huge cost. It is not reasonable on "Return On Investment".
