Background: A survey in local schools assessed students’ self-esteem, defined as how they view themselves in terms of intellectual ability, happiness, anxiety and popularity. Results show that Hong Kong students are below international norms for self-esteem.

Task: Students have been asked to write an article with a title for the school magazine.

Title: Don't Feel Bad about It
“What did this guy mean,” a F.2 student asked me one day, his head down, his face sullen, “when he said I had low self-esteem?”

That question came shortly after our school learned the results of the self-esteem survey among local school students. Compared to kids from 15 countries, we rank below average on all categories that measure the concept. After reading about the study and getting teased by a bully about having low self-esteem, this lower former approached me.......
